Vision: The Vision of the Early Intervention Program is to promote optimal development for all Infants and Toddlers.
In 2003, the Early Intervention Program (EIP) provided services (including developmental screenings) to 189 families, with 153 receiving direct services. The Early Intervention Program is a federally mandated program. EIP offers educational, therapeutic and service coordination to families who have children ages birth to three years old who have a developmental delay (communication, movement, thinking skills, social emotional development or self-help skills) or a diagnosed condition (Down syndrome, autism, clef palate, etc).
When children are found eligible for services (25% delay in development or diagnosed condition), an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is developed with goals to address the strengths and needs of the child. All services are provided in the child’s natural environment (home, grandmother’s home, park, daycare, etc.). All children are eligible for service coordination and in addition special instruction, occupational, and physical and speech and language therapies are also available.
The cost of Early Intervention is funded through local and federal funds. Parental insurance, medical assistance and a cost share for families provide additional revenues.
Toddle Time
Toddle Time is a caregiver and child playgroup offered to all families in the community. The playgroup is offered at the Early Intervention House in Weyauwega. Several years ago the sign from the House was stolen. We were very fortunate to have a new sign designed, constructed and painted with the collaborative efforts the Waupaca High School 2002-2003 High School Construction Classes, the Art class and the Family Support/EIP Advisory Board. Other programs that utilize the early Intervention House include the Waupaca Toddler Group and the Special Needs Support Group.
Child Development Days
Child find and outreach efforts have continued to focus on collaborative efforts with local school districts. We have assisted with Child Development Days (preschool /kindergarten screen for children ages 2-5 years old) screening. We screen children in Clintonville,
